Pieter, please try creating a new thread and let me know what you think…
It does seem to work

Although obviously having to create the page in two steps is annoying. We'll fix that with forms.
Maybe iframe will help for now?

How so?

I was using an iframe suggested by James to redirect back to the main thread, but a significant problem arose from that:
  • Could not edit the page (/noredirect/true had no effect as it wasn't a standard Redirect module)

What were you suggesting for the iframe? Was it this redirect idea, or something else?

Use James' Chatroom Method

We can use James' chatroom method. Iframe the editor.

When redirecting, instead of iframing a code, redirect to the code using the module.

New Post
> Redirect Module: Javascript Redirect

Okay, I'll have to look into that

I have a vague idea of how James' chatroom works, will have to have a look at the code sometime tomorrow morning. Have been meaning to have a closer look ever since he created it, anyway :)

Sounds like you might have found the solution there though.

Just to add something…

This currently acts just like a real forum. You click on an "edit" button and it takes you to a completely different page to edit the post. Then when you click on "submit changes" it brings you back to the thread.

The only difference here is:

  • One extra step when creating a thread (doesn't automatically create the first post at the same time)
  • One extra step when posting or editing (click 'save' then click 'return to thread' instead of single button doing both)
Add post on "And here's the third thread (other in second section)"
